UTAH HEALTH EXCHANGE NOTIFICATION

To search for current course offerings follow the? steps below:

  1. Go to www.sircon.com/utah
  2. Click on Look up education courses/credits
  3. Choose Available Course Offerings Inquiry
  4. Select the State Utah and click submit
  5. Leave the Provider box blank
  6. Education Type: Leave as is
  7. Course category: Check the box Utah Health Exchange
  8. Enter a date in the "From" box and in the "To" box to see a range of offerings available. For example: From: 03/01/2011 To: 03/31/2011 The from date can be no earlier than the current date.
  9. Course hours: Leave blank
  10. Click Submit
To register for an offering listed for the provider name GOED please send an e-mail to exchange@utah.gov. If you would like to inquire for future offerings, please send an e-mail to exchange@utah.gov and express an interest on a location and month you would be interested in attending.

CONTINUING EDUCATION (CE) REQUIREMENT

(I) Utah resident producers and adjusters, excluding title producers, shall comply with the following C.E. requirements.

  • A total of 24 hours of continuing education are required, of which:
    • 12 hours must be in the classroom or classroom equivalent type courses;
    • 3 hours must be in ethics training; and the remaining 21 hours can be in any line of insurance.
    • All 24 hours must be from courses approved by the Utah Insurance Department.
  • Proof of completion of continuing education hours must be kept on file with the producer. The Department may conduct random audits of producers by mail to verify their C.E. hours.

(II) Title producers shall comply with the following C.E. requirements.

  • A total of 12 hours of continuing education are required, of which:
    • 6 hours must be in the classroom or classroom equivalent type courses;
    • 3 hours must be in ethics training; and the remaining 9 hours can be in any line of insurance.
    • All 12 hours must be from courses approved by the Utah Insurance Department.
    • If licensed for 20 or more consecutive years, a total of 6 hours is required, with 3 of ethics.
    • Proof of completion of continuing education hours must be kept on file with the producer. The Department may conduct random audits of producers by mail to verify their C.E. hours.

(III) A nonresident producer who has complied with continuing education requirements in his/her home state is not required to complete additional C.E. for their non-resident license in Utah.

C.E. Exemptions

In accordance with 31A-23a-113(1)(b), a licensee whose license lapses due to military service, voluntary service for a period of time designated by the person for whom the licensee provides voluntary service, or some other extenuating circumstance, such as long term medical disability, may be exempt from the continuing education requirements in order to reinstate the license.

In accordance with 31A-23a-202(3)(d)(i), a licensee who was first licensed before December 31, 1982 may be exempt from continuing education requirements.

Producers holding and maintaining the following designations are deemed to have met the CE requirements: CLU, ChFC and RHU with completion of the PACE program; CPCU with completion of the CPD program; and CFP, REBC, CIC, ACSR, CRM, SOFE, or IRES with completion of their continuing education requirements.

Title Only

In accordance with 31A-23a-202(3)(b)(i)(iii)(C), a title producer who is an active member in good standing with the State Bar, and has met the continuing education requirements of the Utah State Bar, is considered to have met the continuing education requirements for the Utah Insurance Department.

  • Continuing Education Provider fees:
    • Continuing Education total provider fees are $270.
    • R590-102-11. Continuing Education Fees.
      • Continuing education provider approval fees:
        • initial approval fee - due with application: $270;
        • renewal approval fee if renewed prior to expiration - due with renewal application: $270;
        • renewal approval fee if renewed after expiration - due with renewal application: $320

      Checks should be made payable to the UTAH INSURANCE DEPARTMENT.
