The Insurance Department is responsible for administering and regulating the bail bond industry in Utah. In addition, the Department handles complaints against bail bond producers and the agencies. Complaints are received through a variety of channels such as consumers, insurers, courts, and other licensees.
The Department may investigate and may take disciplinary action by denying, suspending, revoking, or refusing to renew the license of a bail bond producer/agency, and may impose penalties including fines and forfeitures. The Department shall make rules as necessary.
